A national level skater and Black Belt holder in Karate, Aarundhoti Sahani started roller skating when she was six years old and has since achieved numerous medals in various sports. She started her skating journey at Anna Nagar Roller Skating Club and has been coached by Unnikrishan and Selvakumar. She credits her parents and coaches for her success and encourages young stars to follow their dreams and put in hard work and passion.
Aarundhoti says that when she was six years old her parents took her to a park named Anna Nagar Tower Park and there she saw people practicing roller skating. She got fascinated by the sport and decided to move forward in that sport and achieve something.
Aarundhoti shares that she began skating at the Anna Nagar Roller Skating Club (ANRSC) with the help of her instructor Unnikrishan, who helped her improve in the sport for competitions and who has been there in her good times and bad. She also received guidance from Selvakumar, an international skater, her mentor in inline speed skating. She could always count on him to cover up her mistakes and improve her performance. She looks up to her coach Selva Kumar, a professional skater who has accomplished a lot, as her role model. She respects his inline skating techniques, and he inspires her to get better every day. She also expresses gratitude to her fitness instructor Toshid for improving her strength, flexibility, and endurance, all of which aided her in the tournaments. She also looks up to Vinod, her training partner, who has always kept up with her and improved her pace.
She shares that skating is a very fascinating sport that includes both thrill and fun.
Aarundhoti won a gold and a silver medal in the Quad event at the State Skating Competition in 2014. In the 500-meter event, she won the gold medal at the CBSE National Competition in 2017. In 2020, she began participating in her second sport, Karate, and after becoming proficient in it, she was awarded a first-Dan Black Belt. She competed in the All India National Level Karate Championship's Kumite event in 2022 and won the trophy. In 2021, she participated in skating as an RSFI participant. In 2022, she also competed in the Inline (CDRSA) district competition, where she achieved one gold and 3 silvers. In the CBSE cluster, she won one gold and participated in the CBSE national. In 2023, she also competed in the Inline District (CDRSA) competition, winning two silver, one bronze, and two gold medals. She won a bronze medal and a silver in the (TNRSA) state competition. In the 2023 CBSE Clusters, she won the overall championship by winning two golds. She won a silver medal in the 500m and one gold in the 300m at the CBSE Nationals.
Aarundhoti attributes her success in skating and martial arts to her parents' and instructors' involvement in the sport. Her parents and her coaches were all quite pleased with her when she won a gold medal in the championships. She reveals that she has been playing sports since the second grade and has excelled in both academics and sports. She used to go to practice in the evening after school and after finishing her homework in school itself. She then went over all of her schoolwork again before turning in for the night. The song ‘Parinda’ helps her to regain motivation and inspires her to become a better version of herself. The quote that inspires her is “It is hard to beat a person who never gives up.” She advises all the youngsters to follow their dreams and give their best instead of getting distracted. She believes that dreams do come true if we put in hard work and passion in our work.
