A Dentistry student at Geetanjali University, Aastha has been learning Odissi dance at Virasat Ensemble- Gurukul of Performing Arts. She looks up to her mother and her guru Shally Shrivastava for inspiration. She decided to learn Odissi dance after witnessing its emotional and soul-healing effects.

The Initiation

Ever since she was a little girl, Aastha had been fascinated by dance. When she first witnessed Odissi dance, she thought it was incredibly emotional and soul-healing. She made the decision to learn Odissi dance after observing how all five body elements flowed in this dance style.

Gurus & Role Models

Aastha looks up to her mother as a role model and finds inspiration in the way she manages her career and personal life. She also thinks highly of her guru Shally Shrivastava because of her positive outlook on life.

A Bit More

Aastha wishes to learn Odissi dance to appease Lord Jagannath. She shares that she read the Bhagavad Gita and grew closer to God during a difficult period in her life. Aastha advises youngsters that it is important to find something meaningful and purposeful in your life. “You are more than what you believe, and you are who you hang out with.” is the quote that inspires her. According to Aastha, we are much more than our thoughts, therefore when you alter the way you think, you may see your infinite potential. Besides, she believes that our attitude and behavior are highly influenced by our company.
