A young Crystal Glass Artist from Udaipur, Ali Hussain began his career in art by assisting his father, Vakar Hussain—an internationally acclaimed artist. Inspired by his father and elder brother, Ali has already created intricate miniature models like a 5mm Ganesh idol using flame-based crystal art techniques. Apart from art, Ali enjoys reading, painting, and basketball, and aspires to become a globally recognized artist.
Ali Hussain, a young and passionate Crystal Glass Artist, is currently studying in 4th grade at Central Academy School, Udaipur. His career into the delicate and mesmerizing world of crystal glass art began under the guidance of his father, Vakar Hussain, an internationally acclaimed crystal glass artist. Ali recalls his first exposure to the craft when he assisted his father in creating one of the largest chandeliers ever made. That moment marked the beginning of his artistic career. Inspired by years of observing his father mold intricate designs with bare hands, Ali one day decided to try his own hand at creation. With curiosity and determination, he set out to make a tiny sculpture of Lord Ganesha, which after many attempts, he successfully shaped to a size of just 5mm — a proud moment in his young artistic life.
Ali credits his father, Vakar Hussain, as his first and most influential role model. He has grown up admiring his father’s mastery and the international recognition he has achieved. His second role model is his elder brother, who is also deeply involved in crystal art. Ali shares that his brother not only teaches him patiently but also helps him perfect his mistakes, offering constant support and encouragement.
Ali Hussain describes crystal art as a rare and delicate form of craftsmanship where models are made using flame and glass — without any physical tools. Artists shape molten glass entirely with their hands, blending two gases to create a precise flame that helps in crafting the desired model. According to Ali, this art form demands immense patience, concentration, and skilled hand movements.
Among his proudest accomplishments is the 5mm Lord Ganesha idol, which stands as a testament to his precision and dedication. Prior to that, he crafted a miniature horse cart (tanga) measuring only 10mm, showcasing his impressive control over such a challenging medium at such a young age.
Apart from crystal modeling, Ali enjoys drawing, painting, and reading, and he is also passionate about basketball. A song that deeply motivates him is “Most of Freedom”. The lyrics resonate with him as they speak about living freely, striving for perfection, and embracing the opportunities the world offers. For Ali, the message of the song is clear: “This world belongs to you, and you have the freedom to create whatever you dream of.” Ali Hussain has a heartfelt message for other youngsters — he urges them not to waste time scrolling endlessly on social media. He believes that time lost on distractions could otherwise be invested in learning, exploring talents, and working hard. He emphasizes that age should never be a limitation, and one shouldn’t wait for the ‘right time’ to start. "Unless you work hard now, you won’t achieve anything later," he says firmly. Ali dreams of becoming just as perfect and well-known as his father. His mission is not only to excel in the world of crystal glass art but also to inspire and help others, especially those who feel they can no longer move forward in life. With a creative spirit, a determined heart, and strong mentors by his side, Ali Hussain is already shaping his destiny — one crystal at a time.
