Arun began playing chess initially looking at his brother and then continued with it regularly. Having won several state-level championships in his younger days, Arun is now aspiring to represent India in the World Chess Championship which is going to be held in Mexico.
Arun has been playing chess as a hobby for the last seven years. He began practicing the game professionally during COVID. Initially, his elder brother joined a chess academy near his mother’s workplace, and looking at his brother, Arun also developed an interest in the game and joined Chessman Academy.
Arun is learning chess under the guidance of Chandrajeet Singh Rajawat at the Kingdom of Chess Academy. Talking about his role models, Arun says that Magnus Carlsen inspires him a lot because of his strategies and moves.
Explaining the game of Chess, Arun says that there are a few rules that one needs to follow in the game. First, you need to develop your pieces and then move the minor pieces. Then you need to castle in order to make the King safe. Further, he says that the basics of chess include making a strategy.
Arun won several state championships in his younger days. He won a bronze medal in the National Juniors Chess Championship. Arun is going to represent India in the Under-20 World Chess Championship going to be held in Mexico.
In the game of chess, the King is the main piece, followed by the Queen who can move in any direction and any number of squares. Knights have the special feature of moving two and a half squares at a time, while Bishops can only move diagonally and on the same color squares. Pawns can initially move one or two squares, and then only one square for the rest of the game.
