With bright eyes and a passion for learning, 14-year-old Chhavi Audichya is not only pursuing the art of Kathak but is also an advanced-level Abacus student. She has been learning Kathak under the mentorship of Shruti – The School of Music and is currently a Class 9 student at St. Mary’s Convent Senior Secondary School, Udaipur.
Young talent Chhavi has been learning Kathak for the past three years. Fond of classical dance from a very young age, she encouraged her parents to enroll her at Shruti – The School of Music, where she is now mastering the art under the guidance of Pt. Narendra Kumar Byawat Ji.
The aspiring Kathak performer Chhavi considers Pt. Narendra Kumar Byawat Ji to be her guru and role model. From learning footwork to understanding the basics of movement, her guru has guided her through every high and low, helping her improve by learning from her mistakes.
During a conversation, Chhavi shared that regular dance practice and continuous training sessions have helped her gain better control over her body and express herself with greater confidence. She also shared that learning has become more enjoyable for her, as she loves expressing herself through different forms of art.
Talking about her achievements, Chhavi shared that she has mastered advanced-level Abacus. She has actively participated in various dance and drawing programs at school and also gave a solo performance during the Guru Purnima event at Shruti – The School of Music. She has completed her Junior Diploma and third year in Kathak. Chhavi aspires to participate in more stage performances in the future and wishes to represent her school at higher levels through her talent and dedication.
During the conversation, the young talent shared that the quote, “Be like water — not a luxury, but valuable for life,” always motivates her and inspires her to stay humble and kind towards life and people. She enjoys moving while learning math and reading while practicing Kathak steps.
