Young chess prodigy Dwisha Kulkarni from DPS-Ujjain began playing chess at six, inspired by her mother. Guided by Coach Neeraj Singh Khushwah at Buddhibal Chess Academy, she represented Madhya Pradesh nationally and also earned international recognition. Beyond chess, she finds joy in badminton, art, and inspiring others to chase their sporting dreams.
Dwisha Kulkarni, a seventh-grade student of Delhi Public School, Ujjain, is a passionate chess player. She began her journey in chess at the young age of six, inspired by her mother, who also played the game. It was her mother’s encouragement that introduced her to this world of strategy and patience.
Dwisha hones her skills at the Buddhibal Chess Academy in Ujjain under the expert guidance of Coach Neeraj Singh Khushwah. She draws great inspiration from Grandmaster Divya Deshmukh, admiring her strategic brilliance and calm style of play.
For Dwisha, chess is not just a game—it’s an art which requires a lot of thinking. She finds immense joy in playing chess and believes that it sharpens her mind while improving her focus. According to her, chess teaches her how to make thoughtful decisions, both on and off the board, and helps her develop mental discipline.
Chess Player Dwisha Kulkarni has participated in around 30 chess tournaments so far, including prestigious events like CBSE Clusters, SGFI, State Championships, and Inter-DPS competitions. She holds an international rank in chess and has won numerous prizes in tournaments held in cities such as Dewas and Indore, among others. She proudly represents the Madhya Pradesh state team at the national level in SGFI chess tournaments—a remarkable achievement for someone her age.
Beyond chess, Dwisha enjoys playing badminton and has a creative side expressed through drawing. One of her favorite songs, “Badal Pe Paav Hai,” fills her with motivation to keep moving forward, no matter the challenge. Her message to young stars is heartfelt: she encourages them to pursue sports and play the game they truly love. She believes that sports not only strengthens the body but also builds mental resilience and confidence—qualities that prepare one for life’s many challenges.
