The Initiation
Gautam Nayak, a bright and energetic seventh-grade student, is a passionate basketball player who began playing the sport six months ago. In this short time, he has developed a deep love for the game, embracing its pace, power, and the excitement it brings. Apart from basketball, Gautam is also an avid roller skater, a sport he began practicing at the age of 10. Specializing in second-step skating, he finds immense joy and benefit in the sport, as it not only strengthens the bones but also promotes overall physical fitness.
Gurus & Role Models
Gautam trains at Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon, where he is mentored by Coach Usha Acharaj. He credits her for teaching him various techniques and consistently guiding him to improve his game. Alongside his coach, Gautam considers his parents as his biggest supporters and role models, constantly motivating him to chase his passions and do his best in everything.
The Talent
In Basketball, Gautam especially enjoys shooting and layups, which he continues to master with great enthusiasm. He believes that basketball is more than just a game—it involves running, stamina building, and strength training, all of which contribute to a healthy, strong, and fit body. According to him, the sport also helps in building stronger bones and better endurance.
Achievements
Despite being new to the game, Gautam Nayak has already participated in two basketball tournaments—one at the district level and another at the state level, showcasing his rapid growth and talent. On the skating front, he represented his school in a district-level skating competition, securing fourth rank, and has also completed a skating marathon, where he earned medals and certificates. The experience, he says, was not only rewarding but also a lot of fun.
A Bit More
Outside of basketball and skating, Gautam also enjoys cycling and playing badminton, showcasing his all-round interest in sports and physical activity. What keeps Gautam inspired is a Sanskrit shloka that deeply resonates with him: “तप्त-कांचन गौरांगी राधे वृंदावनेश्वरी वृषभानु सुते देवी प्रणमामि हरि-प्रिये।” This verse offers him spiritual strength and motivation, reminding him to stay grounded and focused. With a strong foundation in discipline, supportive mentors, and an ever-growing love for sports, Gautam Nayak is well on his way to becoming a name to remember—both on the court and on wheels.
