A talented, versatile, and passionate martial artist, Anany Gour has dedicated himself to the disciplines of Karate and Jiu-Jitsu. With years of training, remarkable achievements, and an unwavering commitment to learning, he continues to establish himself as a skilled athlete while aspiring to make an even greater mark in the future.

The Initiation

Anany's introduction to martial arts began with Karate. Over the years, he has devoted nearly 10 to 11 years to the sport, building a strong foundation of discipline, strength, and technique. As his passion for combat sports grew, he expanded his horizons and immersed himself in Jiu-Jitsu. Today, he primarily trains in Jiu-Jitsu, embracing the opportunity to become a more versatile athlete and explore different dimensions of martial arts.

Gurus & Role Models

Anany trains under the guidance of Diljeet Kour at the Indian Martial Art and Self-Defence Academy, one of the most respected martial arts academies in Indore. Under her mentorship, he continues to learn the techniques, strategies, and skills essential for excelling in the sport. Reflecting on his role models, Anany shares that Mica Galvão is his biggest inspiration because he is one of the world’s finest Jiu-Jitsu players. Having won numerous prestigious titles, he represents the level of excellence Anany hopes to achieve one day. He admires not only his success but also the dedication and consistency behind it.

The Talent

Anany explains that Jiu-Jitsu is a fascinating martial art made up of various fighting systems, each requiring a unique blend of strategy, patience, and skill. His area of expertise lies in Newaza, the art of ground fighting. Unlike many combat styles that focus on standing techniques, Newaza revolves around controlling an opponent on the ground through positioning, leverage, and intelligent movement. Within this dynamic aspect of Jiu-Jitsu, Anany is a guard specialist. He has developed expertise in techniques such as spider guard, octopus guard, and standard guard positions. What makes the guard game particularly challenging is that an athlete often attacks and creates opportunities from a seemingly non-dominant position. It is a true test of composure, timing, and decision-making. Anany shares that playing guard requires immense awareness and precision. Every movement must be carefully planned, and every attack must be executed with purpose. He admires several world-class athletes who have mastered the guard game and demonstrated how intelligence and technique can overcome physical advantages. Their performances continue to inspire him as he refines his own style and understanding of the sport.

Achievements

Anany’s dedication and hard work have already earned him impressive recognition. He proudly shares that he is ranked 9th in Asia, a remarkable achievement that reflects his commitment and skill. He has also secured a silver medal at the national level, adding another milestone to his growing list of accomplishments. These achievements motivate him to push his limits even further. With every competition and training session, he continues to sharpen his skills, gain valuable experience, and showcase his talent on different platforms.

A Bit More

Anany shares that, like many athletes, he also experiences moments of exhaustion during intense training sessions. During such times, he turns to phonk music, which helps him regain energy, refocus, and return to training with renewed enthusiasm. Before concluding, Anany shares an important message for young aspiring athletes. He encourages everyone to join a Karate or self-defence academy near their home and experience the benefits of martial arts firsthand. According to him, these sports not only build physical strength but also improve overall lifestyle, fitness, and well-being. He believes that staying physically active also helps people become mentally stronger. Martial arts teach discipline, confidence, resilience, and self-belief — qualities that extend far beyond the training mat. For Anany, building strength is not just about the body; it is also about developing a strong and determined mind.
