Anshul from Shri Sumer Pushtikar School, Jodhpur began playing Table Tennis after being inspired by her elder sister and her parents. As an aspiring new sportsperson, Anshul advises everyone not to give up on their goals.
Anshul has been playing Table Tennis for the last ten to twelve years. When she was in fifth standard, her elder sister used to play table tennis and getting inspired by her, Anshul began playing the game. She says that her elder sister has been the major inspiration why she chose to pursue this sport. Her parents have always been a great support throughout her course be it in sport or in academics.
Anshul practices Table Tennis under the guidance of Amit Thanvi who always teaches her to participate and give her 100% without worrying about the results. She says that her coach is a great motivation and he keeps on encouraging the players to participate and focus on improvements. Anshul’s mother is her role model who has always supported her from the very childhood.
Anshul says that table tennis is a sport that requires quick thinking and activeness. This game requires a player to make a quick judgment of the next move. It is one of the world’s fastest games and helps you improve your alertness and physical strength. Table tennis is a game of sets and each set is of eleven points.
Anshul participated in the Nationals just after one year of practice. She became the state sports captain when she was in eleventh standard. When she was in twelfth, she participated in Junior Nationals. Anshul won the state championship final in the first year of her college. She has participated in various other competitions like Khelo India Games in Lucknow, West Zone championship in Mumbai, and more.
Anshul says that losing doesn’t mean that you give up on your goals. If you lose, work hard and try again until you achieve what you want. “Enjoy the journey rather than focusing on the outcome” is the saying that motivates and inspires him.
