Anushka Maheshwari, Refining Her Badminton Skills to Achieve Her Goal of Representing India at International Level and Winning an Olympic Medal

Anushka Maheshwari, currently studying in Rajvansh Public Senior Secondary School, takes Badminton lessons at Rajputana Academy in Jaipur. She has been practicing badminton for the last three years. She's an Under-17 State Champion and has won district and state competitions. She plays for seven to eight hours every day and respects world champion PV Sindhu's competitive drive.

The Initiation

Anushka took up badminton as a hobby. Initially she played in the grounds of her house with her father and eventually her enthusiasm increased in this sport. She thereafter enrolled at the academy and is now a professional badminton player.

Gurus & Role Models

At Rajputana Badminton Academy, Anushka is receiving training from her coach and mentor, Vikram Singh Shekhawat. He is a really committed individual who teaches her the fundamentals of the game. She had been training at another school before, but she wasn't happy there, so she subsequently joined Rajputana Academy to get better. She plays this game for seven or eight hours every day. She is really appreciative of her parents', guru's, and family's support. Her favorite player is the world champion and excellent performer on the international level, PV Sindhu. She finds inspiration in PV Sindhu's game and her passion to put in a lot of hard work.

The Talent

Anushka explains that there are three events in badminton like the singles, doubles and mixed-doubles. She thinks badminton offers a variety of career options. Additionally, one may represent India internationally and grow to love their motherland.

Achievements

Anushka is the State Champion in the Under-17 level and has won the district-level competitions in the Women's, Under-19, and Under-17 categories. She participated in the Under-17 Nationals pre-quarter and the SGFI Nationals quarterfinals.

A Bit More

Anushka explains that winning district and then state tournaments is the first step towards qualifying for the Nationals. To excel in badminton you will have to put in a lot of time in it. Maintain a mindset of never giving up and keeping going in life. She thinks that studying for two hours a day is crucial and that playing sports alongside helps you stay fit. Anushka's goal is to represent India in badminton internationally and take home an Olympic gold. Anushka suggests that youngsters should learn badminton at a recognised academy and maintain their motivation from the beginning. You will undoubtedly make it to the national level if you put hours of practice and concentration into improving your game. The quotes that inspire and motivate her are “Try, try and you will succeed.” and “No pain No gain.”
