Dev Karan Singh Rathore has been practicing basketball at Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon in Udaipur since 2015. He believes that basketball teaches life skills like physical fitness, trust, and inspiration. Dev participated in state level tournaments in 2019 and 2020, and played in the Netball Nationals in 2020.
According to Dev, he got attracted to basketball when he was in third grade when he witnessed his seniors playing the game. His PTI advised Dev to start playing the sport and enroll at an academy in order to master the sport. Later, he decided to join Khel Gaon and begin his training when he was in the tenth grade.
Coach Usha, who is certified by the NSI, is Dev's mentor and has helped him become a better player. Under her tutelage, he has been learning netball and basketball at Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon. Besides, his father serves as a role model for him in life and teaches him how to endure in trying circumstances. In addition, he looks up to Shaquille O'Neal and regards him as a role model.
Dev believes basketball teaches you many life lessons, such as maintaining your physical fitness and having faith in your teammates. By playing basketball one gains height and also gets inspired never to give up in life.
In 2019, he participated in basketball events at the state level. In addition to basketball, he plays netball, and in 2020, he took part in the State Netball Tournament. In 2020, he participated in Netball Nationals at Masana. He has just submitted an application for a job at the Indian Post Office based upon his performance at the Junior Netball Nationals.
The songs ‘Never Back Down’ and ‘Na Jatta Na’ inspire and motivate him a lot.
