A student of St. Anthony’s Senior Secondary School, Geet Virani of class 5th, started playing chess after her uncle encouraged her to do the same. She has been playing and learning the game for the last one year.
Geet says that her uncle wanted her to play chess and make big achievements in the game. Driven by his prodding, she started playing the game one year ago.
Geet’s chess guru is her coach Richin Jain who constantly motivates her to play better. He guides her to analyze every game she plays and make improvements in the next. Talking about her role models, Geet says that she is highly inspired by the positioning skills and understanding of Vidit Gujrathi, an Indian chess player.
Discussing the benefits of the game, Geet says that Chess helps one increase mental strength, concentration power, and much more.
Geet participated and secured the first rank in the CBSE West Zone Chess Tournament. She also participated in a national level chess tournament. Besides, she has won many titles in local chess tournaments.
Geet advises youngsters to play chess and thoroughly learn the basics and other tricks and tactics of the game. The quote “If you want to shine like the sun, first you need to burn like the sun” inspires her a lot.
