A student of a government school, Youngstar Jatin Sharma started speed skating at the age of 13 with the help and inspiration of his paternal aunt. By practicing hard he started winning medals in state tournaments within two years. His aim is to win medals in the Nationals.

The Initiation

Jatin started skating when he was thirteen years old. He had been interested in the sport since childhood. His aunt enrolled him for skating and he chose Speed Skating as he had a passion for speed.

Gurus & Role Models

Jatin is practicing speed skating under the guidance of his coach Chandan Chourasia at the Team Tigress Academy. He got inspiration from his brother who is also a skater and medalist in skating. His brother always motivates him to practice hard. His paternal aunt supports and encourages him the most in his house.

The Talent

Jatin says that there are various types of skating like roller ball skating, speed skating, etc. He is interested in speed skating to manage and improve his speed and timing. Jatin tells us that various tracks are available for speed skating. According to Jatin, Speed ​Skating makes us agile and our legs do not hurt. It improves muscles and so he enjoys speed skating.

Achievements

Jatin won gold and silver medals in the state tournaments within two years of practice and also won silver medals two times in 500m skating. In 15kms Road Speed Skating he won a gold medal. He has also participated in several national level tournaments. He also won medals in Drawing and competed in the GK Olympiad.

A Bit More

Currently, Jatin is able to control and skate at the speed of 45 km/hr. When he went to Chennai for a speed race, he learned that he still has to improve further and increase his speed more. He vents his anger only while skating and tries to control it through skating. Jatin advises everyone that we do not become successful at once. We fall many times but we should not give up and keep trying.
