A classical dance enthusiast, Youngstar Kejal got inspired by her family to learn this art. She feels that she has become more confident in life and has turned more expressive by coming into this field.
Kejal has been learning Kathak for the past six years. She got inspired seeing her parents who are also good dancers. Her great-grandfather was also a classical dancer. Kejal says that when she was in sixth class, classical dance classes were started in her school by Chandrakala Choudhary and that is how her interest in the field increased further.
Dr. Chandrakala Choudhary is her inspiration in the field of dance. Dr. Chandrakala has been running Kathak Ashram in Udaipur for the past fifteen years. However, Kejal says that her foremost inspirations were her parents. Her father is a dancer and choreographer, just like her mother.
Kejal describes that Kathak is an Indian classical art focusing on telling stories through the dance form. She says that hand and leg movements and expressions are given special importance in Kathak. Kejal says that it also helps in expressing our emotions in real life as well and helps her calm herself down in stressful situations.
Kejal says that she used to have stage fear which has now completely diminished after receiving appreciation and motivation from others.
Kejal says that the first song that she performed on, which was ‘Mohe Chhedo Na’, is still close to her heart and inspires her.
