A rising chess talent from Udaipur, Khanak Khandelwal is honing her strategic skills under coach Vikas Sahu at Chess in Lakecity. With impressive state-level feats and an unyielding passion for the game, she dreams of making her mark just like her idol, Gukesh D.
Khanak Khandelwal, a sixth-grade student at Rockwoods High School, Udaipur, has been learning chess for the past 3–4 months. She is currently honing her skills at Chess in Lakecity.
Under the guidance of her coach Vikas Sahu at Chess in Lakecity, Khanak continues to grow as a player. She admires his teaching style and appreciates the chance to play against different opponents, which helps her gain valuable experience. She looks up to Gukesh D., the Youngest World Champion in chess, and aspires to play with the same level of excellence.
Khanak enjoys playing chess because it helps sharpen her mind and keeps her mentally fit. She believes that thinking through different moves enhances her calculation and decision-making abilities.
She has participated in several chess tournaments in Udaipur, securing ninth place in a state-level tournament and an impressive Third Place in a Girls State Championship. Khanak is now aiming to participate in more competitions and further improve her game.
The quote that inspires her most is, “We should never give up.” Her advice to fellow young players is: “Don’t focus on defeating others—focus on your own victory and growth.”
