Vocalist Labdhi Jain has been humming and singing since a very young age. She enjoys exploring different songs and is now receiving professional training to pursue her dream of becoming a professional singer. Alongside music, she has also been practicing Kathak for the past two years and has successfully completed a two-year degree in the dance form.
During one of her stage performances, Seema Ma’am recommended her to Shruti The School of Music, where she began her professional training. She has been learning under Pt. Narendra Kumar Ji for the past 2.5 years and has successfully cleared the three-year vocal examination under his mentorship. Shruti The School of Music has provided her with valuable opportunities and platforms to showcase her talent. She deeply enjoys her musical journey there, as the atmosphere is calm, supportive, and encouraging.
Young artist Labdhi considers Pt. Narendra Kumar Ji her guide and mentor, as he has helped her refine her voice and improve her musical expression. He belongs to the Bhendi Bazaar Gharana and continues to carry forward its rich tradition. Through Shruti The School of Music, he imparts the same classical teachings to his students with dedication. Her role models in vocals are Shreya Ghoshal and Lata Mangeshkar, as she admires the purity of their voices and feels a strong connection to the Bhendi Bazaar Gharana tradition.
Talking about music, Labdhi shared her thoughts on the Bhendi Bazaar Gharana, describing it as deeply soulful and expressive, with Shringar Ras as its foremost essence. She feels that music has helped her stay grounded and connected to her roots. Her journey in the art form has also deepened her appreciation for traditional methods of learning and understanding music. Beyond academics, it has nurtured in her a strong interest in preserving classical art forms while making her more humble and respectful towards everyone.
Labdhi participated in the Anuvrat Competition, where she successfully cleared all levels—district, state, and national—and emerged as the winner, marking one of her biggest achievements. She has also performed on various stages as a vocalist and found great joy in every performance. In several district and state-level competitions, she was awarded trophies and medals, while at the national level, she also received a mobile phone for her outstanding performance.
Vocalist Labdhi encourages everyone to learn music and pursue it so that this beautiful art form can be preserved for future generations. She feels that many traditional gharanas and classical styles are slowly becoming less recognized, making it important to keep them alive through learning and awareness. She believes that learning music not only nurtures talent but also keeps a person grounded and deeply connected to culture. Labdhi also feels that at Shruti The School of Music, students are not limited to a single art form but are instead exposed to a wide range of disciplines. The institution offers opportunities to explore Kathak, classical dance forms, musical instruments, vocals, and much more, allowing students to dive deeper into the world of arts.
