Speaking about her role models, jiu-jitsu athlete Lavanya Yadav says that her father is her greatest inspiration. Karate player Lavanya Yadav explains the difference between karate and jiu-jitsu. According to her, karate primarily focuses on punches and kicks, whereas jiu-jitsu incorporates a more comprehensive combat system. In the initial phase of a jiu-jitsu match, athletes use punches and kicks, followed by throws, grappling, and ground-fighting techniques. She explains that jiu-jitsu consists of both a fighting system and ne-waza. Ne-waza focuses on ground combat, where athletes use chokes, joint locks, and submission techniques to gain an advantage over their opponents.
Young athlete Lavanya proudly shares that in 2025, she represented India at both the Asian and World Championships. She won a silver medal at the Asian Championship and secured an impressive World Rank No. 9 at the World Championship. Lavanya also cherishes the honour of being felicitated by the Indore administration during Ahilya Janmotsav (Devi Ahilya Jayanti).
