A sixth grader, Manya Sharma has a keen interest in Yoga and has been practicing it since the last three years. She does traditional and artistic solo yoga and thinks yoga has a lot of advantages. She has won gold medals in tournaments held at the district and state levels. She has also completed a three-year diploma in Kathak and enjoys sketching, dancing, and skating.
Manya began her yoga training during the Covid era because she believed in the many health benefits of yoga. She shares that she became interested in yoga when her school started offering morning yoga sessions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her interest in yoga grew after she took part in a competition at her school.
All her accomplishments may be attributed to her guru Raju Singh Khichi of The Mewar Warriors, from whom she has learnt yoga. She works out for two to three hours every day. She also learned skating and dance in her school during the summer camp. She looks forward to her maternal uncle as a role model since he brings her to contests, practices with her every morning, and constantly provides her with motivation.
Manya shares that there are three types of yoga: rhythmic yoga, artistic solo yoga, and traditional yoga. According to her, rhythmic yoga is practiced in pairs, whereas artistic yoga is executed through dancing. The dance floor in artistic single yoga should be covered up with various asanas, such as handstands, back bends, leg balances, and so on. Stunts like cartwheels can also be integrated with dancing.
Manya has performed yoga in the NYSF, RBSE, CBSE Federation, and other places. In both the district and state tournaments, she took home gold medals. She competes at the national level in yoga. Additionally, she won a state-level sketching competition and received a monetary reward of Rs 7,000.
Manya lists some of the many advantages of yoga, such as how it improves digestion, lessens mental tension, and grows us taller. She completed a three-year diploma programme in Kathak and has an interest in dance and skating as well. She finds great motivation from the song "Aarambh Hai Prachand," which she also loves. Manya says that everyone may benefit greatly from yoga. It not only offers advantages, but it also makes the future more hopeful. She claims that doing yoga regularly can improve both your job and your health.
