A national-level skater, Meet Panwar has been dedicatedly practicing skating for the last seven years. He aspires to represent India one day and pursue the game to the highest level.

The Initiation

Meet hails from Delhi and is a student of Adarsh Jain School. He started his sports journey when he was in sixth grade in 2017. Meet shares that he was always fond of speed, which he then transitioned to skating. He saw skating at the sports day competition of his school, which ignited his passion in the field.

Gurus & Role Models

Talking about his mentors, Meet says that Vinod Sir is the one who has taught him every small technical detail of the game. Also, Sebastian Guzman, a skater from Spain, is the one who inspires him.

The Talent

Meet shares that there are two types of skating, and he is into roller skating, in which speed matters. Meet says that there are short-range and long-range races, and he is a sprinter in short-range races. The first time he played in the nationals, he was very nervous but was motivated by his coach, Vinod sir. He could not get any medals in 2017, but with dedication and perseverance in the following years, he started getting medals as well. Talking more about skating, Meet says that there are two types of skating boards: Quad and Inline. It is easier to maintain balance in Quad and someone who has learned to maintain proper balance can easily do straight skating. Then comes track skating, which has crossings and requires a lot of practice.

Achievements

Meet played in his first national level skating tournament in 2017, and has been doing well in the same since then. In the CBSE National Games, he won a silver and a bronze medal. He has also received medals in competitions organized by the Roller Skating Federation of India and has also become eligible to get into the national trials.

A Bit More

Meet says that the songs ‘Aarambh’ and ‘Brothers Anthem’ motivate him for his games. He says that when we are passionate about something, it involuntarily drives us to manage everything perfectly in order to pursue our passion.
