Rishaan from Rockwoods International School began playing chess when his father motivated him to do so. Rishaan says that it is a game that helps you improve your mental focus and ability. He has won numerous state-level championships and is on the path to adding more achievements to his chess journey.
Rishaan began playing chess when he was six years old. His father introduced him to Chandrajeet Singh Rawat, the coach at the Kingdom of Chess Academy and that was when he started playing Chess.
Talking about his gurus, Rishaan says that Chandrajeet sir, Gautam Kataria, Naman Porwal, and Dhruv Dak at the Kingdom of Chess Academy train him with different tricks and tactics. Rishaan began playing chess because of his coach Chandrajeet Singh Rawat and hence he is his role model.
Rishaan explains that the King is the main piece in the game of chess and if the King dies, the game ends. Then comes the Queen which can move like any other piece except the Knight. The Rook moves straight, the Knight moves two and a half squares, the Bishop moves diagonally, and the Pawns move either one or two squares initially and one square for the rest of the game.
Rishaan won the Under-8 state championship in 2022, secured third position in the Under-11 state chess championship, secured second position in the Under-10 state chess championship, and secured third position in the Under-9 state chess championship.
Rishaan is going to participate in the Under-19 state chess championship, the Under-9 National Chess Championship, and other such tournaments soon. He says that he can also play chess while being blindfolded using his midbrain. Giving his message to his fellow youngsters, Rishaan says that you should include any sport in your daily routine, be it a physical sport like football or a mental sport like chess.
