Sanskruti Agarwal, a twelfth-grade student at SAGE International School, Bhopal, is passionate about Debating, Sports, and Social Work. She has attended Model United Nations (MUN) conferences in Indore and has overcome her fear of public speaking. She is also the President of the IIMUN club in her school, helping students develop confidence and discover their interests. She is also a Gold Medalist in national Thai- Boxing tournaments and has also achieved many accolades at various levels of the sport.
Sanskruti Agarwal is currently studying at SAGE International School - Ayodhya Nagar in Bhopal. She is a twelfth grade student in Commerce and Physiology. In future, she intends to pursue English and Political Science. She is interested in multiple things like sports, debating and social work. When she was in tenth grade, her school gave her the opportunity to participate in a conference of the Model United Nations (MUN) held in Indore. She went there and attended her first MUN conference and fell in love with the process of debating. Later she participated in more MUNs and overcame her fear of public speaking. With the help of her teachers, parents and peers she started speaking on public forums more and more. Currently, she is the President of the IIMUN Club in her school. It presents her the opportunity to explain to the youngsters about Model United Nations conferences that present them with several opportunities that would help them develop their confidence and find out about their interests. She feels honored to have this position and is thankful to her teachers who think she is quite capable of handling this position.
Sanskruti’s role models are her parents as they always inspire and encourage her to do what she wants to do. They have always helped her financially and mentally, and have also guided her through everything. They want her to become the person that she wants to become and always encourage her to pursue her dreams by explaining the pros and cons of her chosen path.
In her opinion, to become a good debater or speaker, a thing that you have to overcome is your stage fear. Sanskruti advises that once you get on stage don’t stop speaking due to fear, and if you continue with it, you can easily overcome the fear and become confident. You might even discover what you like through this process and can also discover in which field your actual interest lies.
Sanskruti Agarwal has attended over 8 to 10 MUN conferences out of which more than four as a delegate and won most of them. She participated in some MUNs as a volunteer from a local NGO known as the Humans of Bhopal where she also heads the content team. Additionally, when she was in seventh grade, she participated in her first national Thai-Boxing tournament and secured a gold medal in it. She continued practicing and playing this sport and has won two gold medals in nationals, one gold medal in inter-house tournament and a few gold medals in state Thai-Boxing tournaments.
Sanskruti had never thought of becoming a politician or a UN representative for the country, and had never participated in such events, due to her fear of public speaking. She mentions a local NGO called ‘Humans of Bhopal’ which was founded in 2022. In 2023, when she was attending an MUN conference, she got to know about this NGO and joined it as a volunteer. After her active participation in social activities and drives, the NGO offered her a position of Content Head in the organization. Over there, they talked about mental illness and how it affects a lot of people but most of the people don’t talk about it. It is a students based organization and all the work from class ninth till college is done by students. In the content team which she heads, there are over 7 to 8 volunteers who write content and it is posted on the Instagram page of ‘Humans of Bhopal’. The content comprises vast topics that are important to society but are not talked about. Some topics include sexual harassment, mental illness and how it affects and more. The Spanish quote “Que será, será”, which translates to "Whatever will be, will be" motivates her the most. She believes that this quote helps her to understand that she should not spend a lot of time over the mistakes that she made in the past. She should accept what is coming for her in future and should not let go of any opportunity. It reminds her that life is always about unseen things and it won’t give her a straight path as it will be full of ups and downs. It teaches her that she should not lose hope throughout the process. Sanskruti advises other youngsters not to give up their dreams because of the fear, as it is temporary. The mistakes that you make by putting that fear over your confidence will stay lifelong, so let go of all the fears you have, be confident in yourself and be motivated to do anything that you want. Sanskruti especially talks about two of her teachers at SAGE International School. The first is Tamosha madam, who introduced her to MUN and helped her become IIMUN President. She always supports her in all her problems and dispels any doubts that she has. She also admires the support of her teacher Swati madam and considers her as her mentor. Swati ma’am helped her realize that she had a good interest in English and should pursue it. She is the kind of teacher that every student should have in their life.
