An international yoga player, Tanmoy Das is currently pursuing his graduation in Yoga at Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute, Lonavala. He started his yoga journey in 2014, initially learning asanas and postures. He believes yoga is about self-realization and the life cycle. He has won numerous medals at national and international levels and encourages everyone to practice yoga daily.

The Initiation

Tanmoy began practicing yoga in 2014, when he was just a young boy. At first, he learnt postures and asanas. He later chose to become a member of Kaivalyadhama Institute. This year marks the institution's centenary, making it among the oldest yoga institutes. In order to further his abilities, Tanmoy made the decision to obtain his undergraduate degree in Yogashastra at this institution.

Gurus & Role Models

In 2014, Tanmoy joined an institute in Tripura to practice yoga. After that, he enrolled in a private school where he received coaching and assistance in order to get ready for the competitive levels. His coach served as a source of inspiration and constant source of encouragement. He greatly aided him in achieving all his goals. Since he has experienced both success and failure, he views himself as his role model. He strives for excellence and attains it by adhering to his own belief.

The Talent

According to Tanmoy, yoga is more about knowing oneself. It has eight limbs, comprising Bahiranga and Antaranga. He says that yoga is about the cycle of life and it includes eight limbs like Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara that are called Bahiranga. On the other hand Antaranga includes Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi.

Achievements

Tanmoy represented his state at the national level in 2015 and won a gold medal. He competed for his state at the national level for the next five years, winning gold, silver, and bronze medals. In 2020, he also represented the country at international level and achieved a gold medal.

A Bit More

Tanmoy suggests that in order to succeed in the yoga field, consistency is key. Daily yoga practice will help you become a better person. He asserts that if you always keep trying, you will definitely get results. Elders should always be respected and listened to. He says that if you want to go the correct route, follow your guru. He gives advice to other young people to be compassionate and authentic, and to believe in their own perfection. The statement, "You should practice yoga daily," uplifts and encourages him. In addition, he advises everyone to practice yoga as it promotes well being and a healthy lifestyle.
