A rising star on the court, Vanshraj Singh Chundawat, a sixth-grade student at St. Gregorios Senior Secondary School, discovered his true calling in Basketball after trying swimming. Guided by his inspiring Coach Usha Acharaj, Vanshraj has not only built strength and stamina but also bagged medals in Basketball, Athletics, and Netball. With the Hanuman Chalisa as his source of motivation, he strikes a perfect balance between studies and sports—urging every young soul to pick a game, stay fit, and aim high.

The Initiation

Vanshraj, a sixth-grade student at St. Gregorios Senior Secondary School, has found his passion in Basketball. With a towering height for his age, he naturally gravitated toward the sport in fifth grade. Before stepping onto the basketball court, Vanshraj trained in swimming at Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon, Udaipur. However, as he observed his physical growth and interest shift, he decided to pursue basketball more seriously.

Gurus & Role Models

At the heart of Vanshraj’s growth in basketball is his coach, Usha Acharaj Ma’am, whom he considers both his mentor and role model. Under her guidance at Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon, he has refined his game and developed a disciplined approach to training. He recalls how she patiently corrects their mistakes and constantly motivates the team—even during defeats—to continue playing and improving. Her own skills and sportsmanship inspire Vanshraj, and he aspires to play just like her one day.

The Talent

Reflecting on his transition from swimming to basketball, Vanshraj shares that earlier, his stamina was quite low. But ever since he started playing basketball, both his speed and endurance have improved significantly. He understands the dynamics of the game well—basketball consists of 12 players in a team, with 5 playing on the court at a time while the rest act as substitutes. His growing strength, quick reflexes, and passion for the game have made him a key player among his peers.

Achievements

Vanshraj has already begun building an impressive sports portfolio at a young age. He represented his school in district-level basketball tournaments and also played in open district and state-level tournaments through Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon. Beyond basketball, he has shown athletic versatility by participating in school-level athletics, where he won a gold medal. He also clinched a gold medal in netball at the district level, adding yet another feather to his cap.

A Bit More

Vanshraj maintains a disciplined routine—dedicating his playtime from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM daily, and the rest of his time is focused on academics. He believes in balancing sports and studies, and does so with commendable commitment. One source of unwavering motivation for him is the Hanuman Chalisa, which he recites regularly to keep his spirits high and focused. To other young students, Vanshraj offers simple yet powerful advice: “Everyone should play at least one sport—not just to stay fit, but to build stamina and strength.”
