Initially Yashwant started playing table tennis at a young age but dropped out for a few years due to some circumstances. After some time, he again started playing it with the motivation of his coach Amit Thanvi.
Yashwant began playing table tennis when he was in eighth grade with his friends and started playing the sport professionally in 2017.
Yashwant trains at the Railway Stadium with his coach, Amit Thanvi. His advice and support have always given him the confidence to play table tennis. He regards Amit Thanvi as his guru and learned the way of living along with the game from him. Yashwant’s role model is Jan-Ove Waldner and he likes his style of playing table tennis. He also admires the sacrifices of his mother.
Yashwant says that it is scientifically proven that table tennis is helpful in curing Alzheimer's disease. It also improves your IQ level and eye-hand coordination. Table tennis is beneficial for the overall development of an individual.
Yashwant has represented his school many times in different tournaments like RCDS and CBSE clusters. He participated as a captain of the team in the West Zone University Games. Recently he secured the third position in State Ranking(men) tournaments. In the year 2023, he represented his team in the Senior Nationals held at Jammu.
Yashwant advises youngsters to come out from virtual reality. It is important to play real games and participate in co-curricular activities as it develops physical and mental ability. Playing any sport is helpful in building and boosting confidence levels. The quote “Keep working, and the rest will fall into place automatically” motivates him.
