Jatin Singh Chauhan, a Delhi State medalist, has earned numerous accolades in athletics, including two state-level medals and participation at the national level. Jatin Singh Chauhan began running at the age of 15. After participating in several events, he realized his potential to excel in the sport. Winning podium finishes further fueled his motivation to improve. His inspiration deepened when he learned about his uncle, an Olympian and Padma Shri awardee who served in the army and achieved numerous accolades. This revelation inspired Jatin to follow in his uncle’s footsteps, dedicating himself more seriously to athletics. Over the past four years, he has continued to train and compete, earning two state-level medals and participating at the national level.
Jatin is currently training at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi under the guidance of his coach, Rupendar Singh, with the R&R Club. His coach, a former athlete with numerous medals to his name, consistently supports, motivates, and guides Jatin in his training. Jatin begins each session with a 15-minute warm-up, followed by a workout tailored to his coach’s instructions, and ends with stretching. Afterward, they discuss strategies for future training. Jatin credits his parents for their unwavering support, providing for his diet, shoes, and other needs. He also draws inspiration from his coach, friends, and seniors.
Jatin explains that athletics encompasses a wide range of events, including sprints, long-distance and middle-distance running, shot put, long jump, and high jump. He believes that it's important to excel in whichever discipline one is passionate about. According to Jatin, participating in sports not only promotes good health but also enhances concentration. He emphasizes that with patience, discipline, and dedication, athletes can achieve good success and compete at higher levels.
Jatin Singh has secured numerous podium finishes in athletics and has participated in several national-level cross-country competitions. He earned a bronze medal in a race held in Bihar and specializes in long-distance running, particularly in the 5 km and 10 km events. Jatin also placed third in the Indian Army Veterans Honour Run and is a Delhi State medalist. To date, he has won over 50 medals in athletics, including three state medals, has participated in national-level competitions , and has won various other awards—including a bike.
Jatin Singh highlights India's recent success at the Paris Olympics, where the country won two silver and three bronze medals, and expresses confidence that India can achieve even greater results on the global stage. He emphasizes the importance of working hard, staying motivated, and never giving up in order to compete with the best. He shares that his parents have always supported and encouraged his athletic pursuits. Early on, he preferred training over school studies, leading to frequent complaints from teachers. However, during the school’s Zonal competition, Jatin won three gold medals and was named the best athlete of his zone, earning him recognition and support from his school. He completed his education at Sukho Khalsa Sr. Sec. School and now aspires to pursue a B.P.Ed., and is currently searching for a university to continue his studies. Jatin advises anyone interested in sports to pursue it wholeheartedly and urges parents to motivate and support their children in athletics, as it can be a source of pride for the country. He believes that achieving big dreams requires sacrifices and perseverance. While challenges may arise and moments of doubt will come, he stresses the importance of staying strong and moving forward.
