Martial artist Jayant Chaturvedi has dedicated the past five years to karate and jiu-jitsu, driven by his passion for kicks and punches and disciplined training. He has been consistently refining his techniques and strengthening his abilities under professional guidance at the Indian Martial Arts and Self Defence Academy, Indore.
In 2021, Jayant Chaturvedi started receiving official training at the Indian Martial Arts and Self-Defence Academy in Indore. His mentors, Diljeet Kour Ma’am, Senpai Monalisa Ma'am and Vansh Sir, played a crucial role in helping him succeed at numerous championships by improving his skills, health, and performance, as well as ensuring his physical well-being. He demonstrated a commitment and proficiency in the discipline, advancing through district, state, and national karate tournaments. He is further developing his martial arts skills by learning jiu-jitsu in addition to karate and competing at the district and state levels.
Jayant shares that he regards Diljeet Ma’am and Vansh Sir as his role models. When he began his formal training at The Indian Martial Arts and Self Defence Academy in 2021, he was inspired by their dedication, discipline, and competitive performances. Observing their achievements motivated him to work harder and continuously improve his skills. Learning from his mistakes and applying those lessons in subsequent tournaments helped him grow as a martial artist and achieve success at various levels of competition.
Karate enthusiast Jayant Chaturvedi shares that practicing martial arts has helped him develop a strong physique and build both physical strength and mental discipline. Speaking about martial arts, Youngstar Jayant shares that karate consists mainly of two disciplines—Kata and Kumite. In Kata, players perform a sequence of synchronized karate techniques and movements that simulate combat against imaginary opponents, showcasing precision, balance, and control. Kumite, on the other hand, is the sparring aspect of karate, involving punches, kicks, and various fighting techniques in a competitive format. According to him, the sport has played a significant role in shaping his overall personality and confidence. Apart from karate, Jayant is also actively involved in jiu-jitsu, which comprises five different events. Of these, he primarily competes in Newaza and Fighting System Jiu-Jitsu. The Fighting System resembles karate, combining striking techniques with controlled combat. Newaza, meanwhile, focuses on groundwork, grappling, throws, and submission techniques, requiring both strength and strategy.
Talking about his achievements, Youngstar Jayant shares that he participated in his first karate tournament, the FSKAI Open State Tournament in 2021, where he earned his first gold medal. Around the same time, he also competed in the first MP State Jiu-Jitsu Championship at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (Nehru Stadium) in Indore, securing a silver medal. Continuing his impressive performance, he participated in the FSKAI Open State Championship in 2025, where he won two bronze medals. At the district level, he added another gold medal to his tally. In jiu-jitsu, he secured a gold medal at the district level and two silver medals at the state-level tournament. Further, Jayant says he won two medals at national-level championships in 2025, including a gold. Further showcasing his talent, Jayant Chaturvedi secured a bronze medal at the 2026 Sankukai Karate National Championship. Alongside his national achievements in karate, he also earned a silver medal at the state level in jiu-jitsu, reflecting his dedication and excellence in both martial arts disciplines.
Young Athlete Jayant shares a quote that inspires him: “The only limitation that exists is in your mind.” He believes that most barriers are self-imposed, and once a person overcomes mental limitations, success becomes achievable in every sphere of life, whether in sports, academics, or personal growth. Sharing a message for fellow youngsters, Jayant says that a true champion is someone who rises again after every defeat with the same dedication, determination, and enthusiasm to compete. According to him, setbacks should never discourage an individual from pursuing their goals. He also encourages young people to participate in some form of physical activity, as it promotes both mental and physical well-being, builds discipline, and helps shape them into better individuals.
