A passionate young chess player from MDS School, Mitansh Sahu started playing at age five, inspired by his grandfather’s academy. He has competed in multiple national and international tournaments and continues to sharpen his skills under expert guidance.
A student of MDS School, Mitansh Sahu began playing chess at the age of five with his father and his grandparents. Inspired by his grandfather, who runs a chess academy, Mitansh soon joined the academy to pursue the game seriously.
Mitansh’s role model is Gukesh D. who recently became a World Champion of Chess at the age of 18. He admires Gukesh’s way of playing chess as he became the Youngest World Champion. Mitansh began his training under the guidance of his grandfather and currently continues learning from his father and coach Vikas Sahu. He appreciates the structured coaching at the academy, covering everything from basics to advanced levels.
He believes chess promotes mental peace, sharpens the mind, and enhances focus in studies and daily life.
Mitansh has competed in several State and Open tournaments, reached the National Level 4–5 times, and has also played in International Chess Tournaments. Recently, he proudly represented his school in the CBSE National Chess Championship.
Mitansh is inspired by the quote, "Hard work pays off." He encourages young learners to start chess early, around the age of 4–5, and to stay committed even if progress feels slow at first.
