A student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Rupesh Singh Solanki transitioned from Kabaddi to Yoga. His dedication led him to earn a bronze medal in Yoga at the KV Regional Sports Meet and secure a place in Top 20 ranks in the national competition. He highlights the synergy between sports and academic success, encouraging aspiring sports persons to pursue their passions.
Rupesh went to Kendriya Vidyalaya in Udaipur for his schooling. He switched from playing kabaddi to yoga after completing his 10th grade, as his school didn't offer kabaddi at the senior level. He kicked off his yoga journey by joining an academy and participating in the KV regional meet.
Rupesh credits his senior, Akshay, for mentoring him in yoga, while he honed his kabaddi skills at B N Academy under Coach Parveen's guidance.
Rupesh, who initially played kabaddi, found that yoga demanded both strength and flexibility. Luckily, his kabaddi background gave him a good foundation in strength, and he worked hard to improve his flexibility. Yoga not only helped him focus on his studies but also boosted his academic performance. By playing both kabaddi and yoga, he built up strength and confidence.
Rupesh clinched the 3rd position in the KV regional sports meet, earning himself a bronze medal. His performance there earned him a spot in the national level competition, where he ranked among the top twenty out of 150 participants. He also played kabaddi in regional meets. Furthermore, he also ventured into new sports like participating in a 10 km Marathon and a 21 km cycling race.
