An aspiring singer, Samira Suhalka is learning vocals and music at Shruti – The School of Music in Udaipur. She loves doing riyaaz not only during her practice sessions but also while studying, sketching, and playing. She is a Class 5 student at Rockwoods International School (Rockwoods High School), Udaipur. With passion and dedication, Samira is steadily exploring the world of music while balancing her academics.
Music entered Samira’s life through her mother, who is fond of music. For the first two years, she learned music from a private tutor. Later, after a gap year, her father enrolled her at Shruti – The School of Music. Samira has been learning music for the past four years. Under the mentorship of Pt. Narendra Kumar Byawat Ji, she completed her first year of formal learning there and is now in her second year.
Talking about her gurus and role models, Samira has been learning music for the past two years at Shruti – The School of Music under the mentorship of her guru, Pt. Narendra Kumar Byawat Ji. He guides her through regular practice sessions and helps her improve by correcting her mistakes. Young talent Samira considers Byawat Ji her role model and is deeply inspired by his singing and teaching style. His discipline, guidance, scolding, and affection make her feel that a true guru should be like him. She greatly enjoys the melodies, raags, and ghazals he sings, which continue to inspire her throughout her musical journey.
The aspiring musician Samira believes that music has helped improve her mind-body coordination. It gives her a deep sense of joy, fulfillment, and inner peace. Music has not only helped her build confidence but also cultivate values such as respecting elders, being polite, and appreciating people and things around her. As a school student, she feels that music makes life more colorful and adds joy and excitement to her daily routine.
The young vocalist Samira aspires to become a great singer one day. She practices music in her spare time and enjoys singing for her friends and social circles, finding happiness in sharing her voice. With a curious mind, she loves listening to and practicing new sur and taal while asking questions about everything that inspires her. She also shares that, “Raag Desh, based on Thaat Kafi, is her favorite raag that she loves to sing.”
